When Refreshes Happen

Holly performs data refreshes on a quarterly basis by calendar year. The refresh process can take up to a month to complete. Each quarter, Holly's data team reviews salary schedules for all jurisdictions in the platform β€” both your organization and your comparator organizations β€” and updates any that have changed since the last refresh. That means the refresh process occurs:

  • January

  • April

  • July

  • October

You do not need to request a refresh. Holly's team initiates this process proactively.

What Gets Refreshed

Each quarterly refresh will review:

  • Salary schedules - We check whether the source salary schedule has been updated and, if so, re-scrape, validate, and import the new data to review.

  • Class specifications - In case any of these have been edited or if any new ones were added.

  • MOUs - In case an updated MOU exists.

Holly does not refresh data you've created or published directly in the platform β€” see the section below on how your edits are protected.

How Holly Prioritizes Your Edits vs. Imported Data

Holly is designed to be your organization's system of record for compensation data β€” not just a place to view external benchmarks. That means the work your team does in Holly to work on and finalize information is prioritized in our refresh process.

Data Type

What You Can Edit in Holly

What Happens at Refresh

Class Specifications

Create new specs or publish edited versions of existing ones

Your created or published version is preserved and will not be overwritten.

Salary Data

Edit salary figures directly in Holly

On each refresh, Holly realigns all salary figures to the published salary schedule. If you've manually adjusted a figure, it will be replaced by the published rate.

Selected Comparator Benchmarks

Toggle comparators on/off; add notes

Your selections and notes are preserved. Underlying salary and spec data from comparator organizations will update only if there are any changes.

Editing a Spec Before a Scheduled Refresh

A common scenario: your agency knows what your upcoming salary schedule will look like, so you update salaries in Holly before the official schedule is published. A few weeks later, Holly's quarterly refresh runs and imports the newly published schedule.

If you anticipate making changes ahead of a scheduled refresh, please reach out to our team at [email protected] so we can ensure the refresh is handled correctly for your instance.

A Note on Market Analysis Results after a Refresh

When Holly refreshes data for your comparator organizations, those updates are applied to the underlying comparator dataset. The Market tab updates automatically to capture the most recent data.
