Accessing the Settings Page
You can open the Spec Settings page from any specification you have access to.
How to open settings:
Open the specification you want to manage.
In the Spec Designer, locate the tab bar at the top of the page (you'll see tabs for Specification, Internals, Market, History, and Settings).
Click the Settings tab.
Editing the Job Code
The job code helps you organize and identify specifications within your classification system. You can update the job code directly from the Settings page.
How to edit a job code:
Open the Settings tab for your specification.
Locate the Job code field.
Click the pencil icon next to the current job code.
Enter the new job code.
Your changes save automatically.
Viewing Version Information
The Settings page displays the version created date so you can track when the current version of the specification was created.
What you'll see:
Version Created Date – The date this version of the specification was created
Tip: Use this information to confirm you're working with the most recent version of a specification.
Viewing Specification Status
The Settings page shows the current status of your specification.
What you'll see:
Status – The current workflow status of the specification (e.g., Draft), indicated by a colored dot
This helps you quickly understand where the specification is in your approval or review process.
Deleting Specifications
If a specification is no longer needed, document owners can delete it from the Settings page.
Who can delete specifications
Only document owners have permission to delete specifications. If you don't see the Delete spec button, you may not have owner-level access to the document. Assign yourself as a document owner or contact an administrator before proceeding.
How to delete a specification:
Open the Settings tab for the specification you want to delete.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the red Delete spec button.
Click Delete spec.
Confirm the deletion when prompted.
⚠️ Important: Deleting a specification is permanent. Make sure you have exported or backed up any information you need before proceeding. If the specification is referenced in approval workflows or other processes, removing it may affect those workflows.
